How innocent it looks in the summer when it’s full from eating yarn all winter!

My house eats yarn.

That’s the only explanation.

I spent yesterday searching for a barely started balaclava that I’ve had by my chair for several months now.  Of course, I’m looking for it because the project has spent too much time untouched and desperately needs attention.

Now is the time!

And now it is gone.

Then, I had to get a third skein of yarn for the new circular shrug I’m constructing.  After completing the center star and picking up a second skein for the edging, I thought that would be it.  Now the thing seems to be swallowing yarn balls whole.

If I was feeling logical, I might draw your attention to the fact that every other row, I’m increasing by eight stitches.  That each repeat of the edging increases the length of the rows by sixty-four stitches.

However, today I believe that a hungry yarn-eating elf lives in my house.  Probably in my stash boxes.

I’m going to organize my stash this weekend and toss him out on his ear.

Especially now that he’s digesting my balaclava.

Ever wonder how to get that beautiful half-twist in your knitting to create a moebius cowl?  On March 16th, I’m doing a workshop on exactly that!  Simply twisting your cast-on gives you a full twist which doesn’t fall nicely where this technique magically creates a real moebius loop with just one elegant half-twist.  And it only has one edge!  Come join me to play with this fun and mysterious technique.

Knit on!

My house eats circular needles, especially my brass Addi Turbo Lace needles. They try protecting themselves by hiding in unfinished knitting projects and sending in the bamboo needle infantry. The goddess in charge is clearly incapable of intervening.
