On New Year’s Eve, I joined many, many people in making resolutions and goals for the coming year.  This year’s knitting resolutions came strong and steady, and included some oldies and goodies.  Anyone remember one of my favorites from last year?

“Finish the projects in my UFO bin.”

Yeah, that didn’t happen.  So, it goes on the list again for this year with a plan:  For every project started, two unfinished projects must be finished or frogged.  Adding “frogging” to that plan should help me make some progress!

How about:

“Master three new techniques.”

That happened!  I learned to add beads to my knitting, mastered the Sweet Tomato Heel, and successfully altered a sweater pattern to my measurements.  With those results, I’m giving this one another run with double-knitting, moebius knitting, and lace shawl design.  With the last in mind, I spent the day yesterday digging through my brand new copy of all four volumes of Barbara Walker’s Treasuries of Knitting Patterns (Thanks Mom & Dad!) and mapping out a shawl on sheets and sheets of graph paper.

Lace Shawl Designing!

Since I’ve also added “Hike 500 miles” and “Clean up and Clear out” to my list of resolutions, I think I’m done with my list.  Otherwise, I’ll find myself adding way too many things than can be completed.

Have you made any knitting resolutions?  I’d love to hear about them, and see how I can help you complete them!

The guys at the Valley Voice asked me to write a knitting column a couple of months ago, and I’m pretty proud of my latest.  Pick up a copy of the January Valley Voice and check it out.  I’d love to hear your reviews.

Happy New Year, and Knit On!

Great column in the Valley Voice. Keep it up! My goals for 2013: travel more, be a better person and get paid!

I am going to knit something for me and not give it away. The sweater I started this summer comes to mind. I’m going to clean up my language. Although I cleaned it up a lot in 2012, “Rat Bastard”, still finds its way in far too much. And I thought about giving up sarcasm, but it gives me so much joy that maybe it only has to go for Lent. :-)

    Happy 2013.

My 3013 goal is to knit a sweater for myself. Lorie- are you interested in taking a full time knitting nanny position for me? You can even move into my spare bedroom! You shall be paid in good karma and wine. Deal?

    • As lovely as that spare bedroom sounds, I don’t think my dogs or cats or wyfe would approve. :-) A sweater sounds fantasic though! I know you’ll succeed!
